Hit-Run Newfield Driver Calls Cops 20 Minutes After Killing Jogger, Cops Say
A 35-year-old jogger was killed in a Gloucester County hit-and-run Sunday morning, Aug. 24 — and the driver was arrested minutes later after calling police and admitting his involvement, authorities said.
Emmanuel Anakwah, 36, of Newfield, was heading south on Madison Avenue near Dalton Avenue in Newfield, when he hit Mckeon C. Mckeon-Fish, who was jogging southbound along the roadway, at 8:10 a.m., Matthew DeCesari said.
Mckeon-Fish of Newfield, was pronounced dead at the scene and Anakwah fled, police said.

A 72-year-old Vineland man was killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday, Aug. 24, police said.
Officers responded at 6:50 a.m. to East Landis Avenue and Main Road for reports of a crash with life-threatening injuries, according to the Vineland Police Department.
Investigators said a red 2016 Toyota Highlander driven by Chao J. Lu, 51, of Vineland, was traveling westbound on East Landis Avenue when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound beige 2017 Honda CRV driven by Efrain DeLatorre-Valdesp, 72, of Vineland.

The 26-year-old Edison mechanic killed while crossing Route 1 has been identified by police.
Robert W. “Robby” Peterson was walking eastbound in the crosswalk on Old Post Road across Route 1, near Popeyes, on Thursday, Aug. 21 at approximately 1:15 a.m., when the traffic signal changed from red to green, giving vehicles the right of way, Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan said.

Jackson Township Man, 34, Killed In Early Morning Crash: Police
A 34-year-old man was killed early Saturday, Aug. 23, in Jackson Township, authorities confirmed.
Police were called to Metedeconk Trail at approximately 6:27 a.m., Jackson Township Police Chief Matthew D. Kunz said. The driver, a township resident, had struck a parked truck on the road, the chief said. The driver, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fleeing Wrong-Way Driver Crashes Into Tractor Trailer, Minivan On Route 17 In Ho-Ho-Kus (Update
A wrong-way driver fleeing police slammed into multiple vehicles on Route 17 late Friday, Aug. 22, injuring four people, authorities said.
At approximately 10:54 p.m., a 64-year-old man from New City, NY, entered Route 17 North from Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus by traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender said.
